The partners of the MEDCYCLETOUR project met on 4-5 October in Izola, Slovenia for their 4th steering committee meeting. MEDCYCLETOUR stands for “MEDiterranean Cycle route for sustainable coastal TOURism” and its focus is the development of the EuroVelo 8 – Mediterranean Route.
The overall objective of this project is to promote sustainable and responsible tourism in coastal areas across the Mediterranean, using the route to influence regional and national policies.
The main points addressed during the meeting included the ECF’s coordination of the route survey according to (ECS), which is set to be completed. The ECS is used to certify EuroVelo routes and, furthermore, serves as a quality assessment tool for national or regional routes. Additionally, the various partners provided progress updates on their activities and continue to work on their national and regional action plans. ECF also presented its new web development platform, which will refresh the look of current EuroVelo route websites and further integrate them in the backend, alongside, future actions covering different promotional activities such as attending the leading tourism travel show, the in Berlin next year, the promotional brochure, etc.
